Notes:

Only users that have signed on, and have a membership are able to receive Out In Pittsburgh Instant Messages.

Important: You MUST be logged in to get or send Instant Messages.

Users are able to see who is currently signed on to the Out In Pittsburgh website by going to the following URL: http://www.outinpittsburgh.com/im/whos.asp

To send an Instant Message:

Go to the following URL: http://www.outinpittsburgh.com/im/whos.asp - you will see a list of users that are online and available to get an Instant Message.

When you see a user that you'd like to Instant Message, you'll see next to the name of the user the phrase "Send IM" - click on phrase. You will then be taken to the message entry screen. You may type up to 50 characters - once you have completed your message, click the SEND button.

You will then get a notification message that will tell you:

1. The message was sent. -OR-

2. The user was already logged off, and the message could not be sent. -OR-

3. The user already has waiting Instant Messages and cannot receive any more.

Once the message has successfully been sent, you can continue to use the Out In Pittsburgh service.

Your Instant Message will be displayed the next time the recipient views any of the webpages at the Out In Pittsburgh website.

If the user logs off without seeing your Instant Message, you will be notified via an
Instant Message that the Instant Message could not be delivered to your recipient because they logged out before the message could be displayed.
